A nonsurgical injectable technique called Kybella targets fat beneath the chin. This area is targeted with a series of injections of deoxycholic acid. The procedure does not require incisions, and most clients have minimal downtime.
 
Adults 18 years or older with moderate to severe fat beneath the chin are the best candidates. If you have had or are planning facial surgery, have trouble swallowing, are pregnant or nursing, or have an infection or medical condition near the planned injection site, you might not be a good candidate.
 

Bile acids, such as deoxycholic acid, are naturally produced by the body to aid in fat absorption. A synthetic form of this is used as an injection in Kybella injections. Although everyone’s physiology is different, most adults stop being able to grow new fat cells when they reach the age of 25. Formulated with deoxycholic acid, the formulation destroys a significant proportion of fat cells. Dead fat cells are flushed out of your body by your lymphatic system over time.

A treatment plan should be tailored to your specific needs by your healthcare provider. In order to achieve desired aesthetic goals with Kybella, most people will need more than one treatment. Two to four Kybella treatments produced visible results for most people in clinical studies. Some cases required six treatments.
